You can still get a FREE copy of Dark September Rain on DVD mailed to you for FREE! Send an email with "I'd like to see your film" or something similar to in the tag line and your mailing address to:

I've sent out about 30 copies so far. Not that many, but about twice the number of emails I sent out. Some of the blogs were kind enough to mention it. Coolmel in particular.

Also, check out this petition to end profiting from the sale of weapons.

And this website noprofitfromsuffering.org

The idea of both is to eliminate the making of profit from things that cause suffering, specifically weapons. It makes a lot of sense to me.

Not much to report on the film front. Still entering and being rejected form festivals. It's a bit depressing, but I also know that many other filmmakers are going through the same thing. We've entered some 40+ festivals and been turned down by a little less than half, so there is still plenty of hope. Who knows, maybe I'll get a nice email this week.

Speaking of depressing, I spoke to my grandmother this week and we were talking about the film and how hard it is to get into festivals with a film like this and she said, "Well, it is a little depressing." Which I thought was funny. The film can be seen as depressing, I suppose, but the intention is to look at the world and ourselves closely. Which I think is more sobering than depressing. However, it was nice to know that my grandmother had watched it. Since the characters of Ben and Harriet were in large part based on my grandparents it's good to know that the have seen how they have influenced me.

I've been considering holding a screening for distributors, but the more I think about it the more I think it might be best to contact a handful of smaller distributors in sequence.

I've also been thinking that I'd really like to have a free screening on September 11th. We'll see. Maybe I can get someplace to show it rent-free if we don't charge and donations go to world peace charities. I'd like that.

And speaking of world peace, I've had this crazy idea this last week that what the world really needs is not another protest march or rally with people making speeches and shouting slogans, but instead what we need is a massive day of prayers for world peace. Millions of people from all religious persuasions praying in silence around the world for 24 hours straight. I have no idea how one would even begin to organize something like that, much less whether people would show up.

Well, that about it for this blog. Hopefully I will be a little more regular with my postings. I'm also planning on adding a comments capability once I figure out the software for it.
